Goat Birth
Project IdeaOur dear friend, Suzy, was going to experience her goat having kids for the first time. She had many questions so we decided on a new school project. The kids would make a video on the birth of some goats born here at mylittlehomestead and provide it online so Suzy could see it for herself.
The video could not have any any copyright infringements. They needed to compile all the footage and write and perform their own music. It was to be our first youtube video.
Real Life
The birthing footage was shown in real time to show the true length of time it took to actually push the kids out. The video was specifically made for Suzy but is public and continues to be viewed by anyone interested in watching a goat birth. Here it is:
Pirate Ship
The doe, Biscuit, had a buckling and doeling. They were named Pirate and Poppet since they were born in our Pirate Ship fort. Poppet comes from the movie, "Pirates of the Caribbean", where one of the pirates happens upon Elizabeth and declares, "Hello Poppet".
What Their Doing Now
Pirate has grown up to be a wonderful pack goat and will also pull a cart (see Homemade Goat Cart). Poppet has become one of our best milking goats. In 2011, she had a set of goat kids nearly identical to the ones born in this video (see Baby Goat Kids First of the Season).
