Two Trucks in One!

Combining a 2000 Dodge Magnum 1500 Truck 5.9 Liter to a Dodge Magnum 2500 Truck of the Same Year

After many years of driving on our dirt road, the frame of our 1500 Dodge Magnum truck was falling apart. We found a 2500 Dodge Magnum with a good frame but a bad engine. We decided to combine both trucks to make one (they have the same engine). After we had it hauled to the house, we started the swap.

Here’s a few of the steps in the process:

  1. The hood is taken off so the engine can be lifted high enough for egress and for better access.Removing engine from 1500 Dodge Truck
  2. All the components that are connected to the engine and transmission are taken off: Vacuum hoses, electrical, exhaust manifolds, etc. Dodge Magnum engine in 1500 Dodge Truck
  3. The radiators and cross brace are taken off. Dodge Magnum engine in 1500 Dodge Truck being removed
  4. Two flanges with holes are located on the front of the engine right below the exhaust manifolds. We use a chain and two grade 8 bolts to hoist it up. (If done, use at your own risk.)Dodge Magnum engine in 1500 Dodge Truck being removed
  5. We use an a-fame and a 1 ton lever chain hoist to lift the engine and transmission out.Hoisting Dodge Engine up using homemade A-Frame Hoist
  6. The new engine and transmission goes back in the opposite way it came out.Placing the rebuilt Dodge engine into the Dodge 2500 with a solid frame
