all of us kids have gotten an earthbag
bedroom except for Shae she's designed
her room in Minecraft to show us the layout
This is good old minecraft
so we're moving through the Minecraft world
looking for your house
yeah I lost it
and that's a river
yes
well it's not over there
I'm going to be so sad if I can't find it.
this is the biome I was in
oh there it is
found it
this heart shape here
and this is an overall view of the roof right?
yeah
alright this is it
it's going to be kind of what it looks like
on the inside
a skylight
a
bed area i put in a little false bed
it's not going to be as big as this
I don't think because it's just
I'm just working with blocks and I
wanted to make it sort of roundy
then it goes downstairs
kind of a lower level
and that's the other side of the heart right?
yeah
this is one circle of the heart
and then the bottom point of the heart
the bottom point of the heart is like this
okay, so
it's not exact but I
I think it'll be good enough to go off of
when they're
putting the building together
so one side of the heart is a higher level
then the other side
Oh, and then there's the heart. okay awesome
My goodness Mom

I can see it

mom's always really enjoyed the small, homey feel where
everything's cozy and and dad is go big
or go home
he likes to go really big and and it
seems like
each building has to be
bigger and better and with more details
and bigger in size
It's hard for me not to get
caught up in those ideas
and considering that the last building we did is two stories
and gigantic
we can't exactly go bigger
and better this time
just a bedroom - we just need
a bed a dresser
like a three story warehouse
made out of earthbags
[purr]

I need an isosceles triangle to fit
somewhere in this section here
I've had a lot of time to think about what I want for my room
but as I was
designing it
I realized it was a heart shape
okay now the beginning to sketch
it up to make sure doors and windows
roof will fit
there's enough room in the bottom of her heart for the bed
am I sleeping in the bottom of my heart?
yes
if I get a room like this
no one can say I am heartless

it's finishing off our idea of having this somewhat of a circle
close off the wind from this direction
and the Sun to it's going to
create some shade
a door here that will face into the courtyard area
the top of
the heart is up here
and the bottom of
the heart goes down there
are you saying
I don't get a window into
the courtyard so I can spy on my
siblings?
you can yeah you can
a small window here okay?

The twelve inches of dirt
in the buildings
it blocks the Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi will get through the
doors and windows of the buildings
so we run cat5 through all the rooms
we can just plug straight into our desktops
we get the fastest internet we can
Wi-Fi is always slower
and then for like our phones or tablets
we do need Wi-Fi for those
so we've been getting Wi-Fi range
extenders
and putting those in a window
or behind a door somewhere
and they'll actually Wi-Fi to the room
in the box here this is the internet set up
for the studio
and cat5e cable
so we got this splitter
it is the fastest splitter we could
so this will be the line that runs
from the main router we have
into the studio itself
and that will run into our
splitter and then that will split off for three computer lines
just a little above ground level
so we can get water runoff this way
a little bit more to like here
yeah
I'm going to take this up
just a little bit
this might be 8 inches
up in the air
berm this up and berm this up and the water
runs this direction
just for like maybe a design on this rocket stove
I'd say you build a shelf for the stove to set on
so you bring that up to
bring it up and build a shelf
that way the heat from the
rocket stove itself can go both directions
and eventually get up to here
Will Shae's building have a rocket stove or something different?
you know, Shell and I we're talking
about that today we're not really sure
about her room
it's not as big
as what we've been building
so I don't know if we'll go with that
or we'll give her a hot plate and just let her warm up
I don't know
so we're gonna have to move
this thing before we start laying out

one year for Shae's birthday
we got her a book of playhouses
she got to pick one
of the playhouses out for us to all
build for her
it was really cool and i
played with that for a long while
if I went in there now I'd bonk my head all
the time
you were much smaller at eight
I was
darn that growing thing
my weight is not enough
You need to gain a couple pounds
okay
it was 2008 that
we built it
a long time ago
we were pretty little
Mom, you want to come here and push?

okay it looks like Bryson can't do that by himself
I'm doing this by myself now

We don't need to build her building, she already has one
[Music]
dad designed my room out on paper
maybe like three or
four times
the original size was like
three 12-foot circles
heart shaped
it ended up the the bottom of the heart where the bed section was
was huge
I mean you could put two or three
beds in there
We're taking these branches out?
yeah
this is way you carry a saw
[Music]
see all the green
on the ground out there?
I give those to the rabbits every morning
[Music]
this one here is going to be about Garen's size
as far as square footage
we decided to go ahead and squish it down in both directions
and now we have something created that's a little bit more
like two 12's
which now gives
you over a six foot area square
to be able to put the bed in
we decided we did want
it to be portable
[Music]
this cool roof and then
this flat roof area
like our outdoor shower
so the roof will come around like this
but then you still got more out here
right so then that becomes your flat...
dad will show you. He came up with a really cool design
so this is the main circle
for the entrance coming into the building
this is the lower level
3 foot lower than
this level
the tall pitched roof is this
one right here
and it's going to actually extend down over the top of the heart
this way
and then shorten up here
and here to give a little bit more
space up in here for the flat roof
design can sometimes just happen
accidentally and I didn't intend to have
this this perfect third idea
and it just
seemed that two hearts
like one going one way and one going the other way
it came out that way
this morning dad went out and he lined it all out on
the actual ground
so we would see it and
when I went out there I couldn't quite
envision it and I was thinking the
furniture would not fit
you might want to go a little bigger there dad
and dad's like no no no
you have put this here and
this here and that there
and I talked with mom some more and now I'm like
cool
I can see it
you're happy with this
happy with the side
you're happy with the shape
yes
It's a go then

a little rain would be nice about now too
