last week we completed the sheeting for
the reciprocal roof on Shae's earthbag
bedroom

the gals ran out of sand for
stucco over the weekend but it doesn't
slow us down
so mom
yeah
why are we getting the sand
here instead of buying it?
we started
using this stuff out here until we could
get to the sand place because they
weren't open
I think it's got some clay
content in it
it's working so good
I don't know if we want to go buy it now
here comes the crew

no they don't

we're gonna start on some windows here today
get this little feller in
leveling it so it's a level when it goes in?

this is a really dirty window

we're going to be putting in here
this was our mystery box too from awhile back

we're gonna cement it in today

building up the sides a little bit

here's what we should do

these things are heavy
they're from an airport

people have looked out this window
looking for
their plane at one time
let's be honest
stuff stacked in front of it
nobody ever saw through it

this particular window has no flanges
like this window did so this kind of
window we set on the inside
am I the only one that doesn't want to remove
this thing right here

it didn't even budge
well, technically you want to have a nice
level surface and level sides
the tops not is important but it would be nice to
be square
once you square one corner you kind of
squared most of it and I use the shims
to square the actual frame to the window
rough opening
so getting some lubricant oil
in these rollers is a really good idea
before you finish your install
these windows have been sitting for several years in the hoop
barn
just waiting for a room to be put in
ya, Garen's got three in his room
yeah and then we got
two of them in the house
this is the last one
I always make sure that the weep holes are
at the bottom
that's what they're
designed to do
is that if
rain should hit the window it's gonna
fall down into the groove, out the weep
hole and then outside

we got an embedded band-aid

it's not really looking like much

it's obviously not damaging me
well, I was kind of hoping for like a gigantic
hole in your wrist
burning the flesh aaawwwww
it's hardened in there now
it's not gonna move
we're just
gonna take our protective layer off
mom cobbed it into the wall
and then, if you want to come over and see this side here
that's not going anywhere
I'm starting to
smooth out around it so we can cob
over this and make it look like it was
never there
it will look how pretty
you got the little piece of wood that Bryson
chopped off
you're gonna just cob over
that now?
yeah, we'll wet it and cob over it
beautiful
so we have our dirt bike tire and our
glass end tabletop
we're ready to put it
all together
seal it up
make it look good
is that
coming off down there on that side?
no
I'm just
pushing it all the way in so that you
have more room
we all had this vague
memory of being able to get the the
tabletop into the tire like being able
to kind of squeeze it and wedge it and
get it in there
I thought at one time it
was in, wasn't it?
it wasn't through brute force, it was
strategic because it was just us girls
did you hear what she just said?

guys couldn't think their way out
of a wet paper bag
when we went to actually
do it
it didn't seem to work that way
oh I remember
doing something
I just -

it's pretty hard
I don't think we got it all the way in because I remember Mom
whispering that we were going to slice a little slit in it
no, the tire didn't shrink
so it's very confusing as to whether it was our
memory or we just weren't doing it the
same way
I just don't see this going all
the way to there
cutting it and then not
telling dad that we're gonna cut the
beautiful tire
okay
so we're gonna cut it?
yeah, we're gonna cut it
I think if we do
make just one slit I think we'll be fine
mm-hmm
and one cuts easy to fill up when
we fill it up
I think he tried a few different types of tools
before you got one that worked
and he put
a little slit in the tire and then was
able to work it in from there

only a small tear on the side, that's pretty good
we're
ready to take this out and I want to
kick it free because that's how I feel
about it
kick it free Obiwan
I'm happy now
so is it going to hold?
I'm gonna say yes
if not, I'm in trouble
it looks like a hobbit hole
doesn't it?
it's as small as a hobbit hole
that is so cute

he doesn't like it

we're ready to get the half window in
what we're doing here is I'm going to go ahead
and just lift it right up into place and then
wedge it in with shims so it locks it in
there
then we'll throw some
we'll throw a bead of caulking
around it and that'll seal it
dad did some adjustments to make
sure everything fit
I have it in backwards
bummer

that's not scary at
all
I didn't think you'd be scared
so dad how are
you gonna secure the window in?

the best form of securing things is magic

we
decided to use spray foam on the edges
to keep the window in and seal everything
[music]
we're getting there huh?
yeah
[music]
well, this turned out really good
nice and solid
this idea was
just perfect
we just clean it up and stick it in the hole
awesome
ready to go
they're hooked
into other little wooden things
the window, it was a little small for the
hole so he got some little wood to
secure the window
[music]
that's enough for when we start putting in
cob is going to seal it all in
yep
yeah, I'm just getting it in place so that
we can get cob around it
we're gonna
stucco around the window to get it
really secure it in there
just to that I guess
we want to use those knobs to
help connect to the stucco
so we'll go to right there
perfect
we're real experienced at it
yeah so
this is our first tire window
we've ever put in
never done a tire
window before
I really like it
looks so good
it's in there really
pretty sturdy too with the
once the stucco gets in, it really holds it
very well
and I just
look how cute that is
I think everything will get a paint job
turned out really nice

this is how far we've gotten with the
stucco
almost all the way around here
it gets a little too wet and
soggy to do it all in one go so I'll
have to keep building up here and I'm
trying to make the wood look like it's
not there because it's ugly
so this is
as far as we've gotten with the stucco
so next week we'll have to finish it up
and fill in the cubbies
