Patio Roofing and Some Loose Ends

last week we ran out of material before
nearly completing the reciprocal roof on
Shae's earthbag bedroom
[music]
this week
we decide to start on Shae's patio but
first we need to remember how we did it
on Bryson's bedroom
I don't exactly remember
I know we laid tar paper down a couple times down
and then we did the white roofing over the top of it
but I'm not sure
we should go look at it
okay
Hi buddy
we're going to look at the roof now
[giggles]
so we layered it
I have that stuff on
there
Dad, you have a slant on that roof right?
yeah same as this one
we did tar
paper
like you would a roof with shingles
yeah
and then on the creases we did
a little mesh
and then we painted over the top
with the white roofing
we also put this on
and painted more white roofing over the top of that
putting on the rain drip
on this patio up here
getting this whole flat
roof kind of thing going on
same way we
did Bryson's

we have extra roofing so I
thought it would just slip the roofing
up vertical
it's such a short section
I'll just do that and that'll fit right
in there
we're going to be amazing and finish stucco-ing this room down here
are you impressed?
you're gonna stain it whatever we
we could say that whatever we accomplish this year was
definitely last year's resolution
yeah
we were so optimistic
at being able to get
this room done in the beginning of the
week
oh yeah we're definitely going to be done
we'll have it done soon
this year and possibly a little bit into the next
we didn't get as much done as
we thought we'd be able to but we tried
we really did
well Shae and I are going to
be extremely happy to be done stucco-ing
whenever that may be is that what you said Shae?

you're motivated to do nothing
I like it
I just wanted to share my genious with you
no more goop
so that's the extent of what we got done huh?

putting a bed - that's where your bed

that's an outdoor bed
we're gonna use the siding
Oh, how interesting. I like that.

we love working outside but also one of our
other love of ours, is working on our
computers
everyone in our family has a
side job and mine is a digital artist so
you might recognize this
this is the new
updated Weekly Peek logo that I just
finished last week
I create the digital
curb appeal for companies
YouTube
channels
I do logos banners, profiles, promo
artwork, icons, stuff like that
t-shirt designs
I'll have customers that'll come in and
they're like, I'm not really sure I want
but I want to do a t-shirt design and
it's like alright so kind of get
together and think up a design or
something so it's a lot of fun
thinking
of something creative for each
individual client is - that's one of my
favorite parts but I think my favorite
part of the process is definitely
coloring
We brought some metal over from the hoop barn
from our metal pile
we'll bend it into shape

I am attempting to make a glass tube out of this glass bottle
it may turn out as a fail but you know it's
worth the experiment if it does or
doesn't
if you want you can go check it out
see if it turns out to be a fail or not
this Friday on my ScienceMadeFunner channel
this is a sealing flashing
it's kind of
a cool thing to put the - to seal up seams
keeps moisture out
put down 30 pound felt
put
all the flashing around it and then I
use a six inch seam called seam flashing
and I do all my seams, glue all that down
with this white snow roof
common out
here in the Southwest to have snow roofs
so we use that same material to glue all
this down

probably end up with three or four coats
coat number two
the coat here covering up - not only
the initial roofing we're also adding a
little extra protection here on the
seams
we've been working on the last
part of the roofing so that's kind of
coming up together here on Shae's roof
we put together - this is our
fourth roof we've done here so it's kind
of been fun doing that
I guess we
started Garen's about three years ago
two years now for Bryson's and six
months now for the studio's roof
we've had no fading - everything has been
working really well - very pleased so
we're excited to kind of finish up
Shae's roof
we're digging a trench for
the power for Shae's room
wow, that's a straight line
gonna blame Mom
it's true I admit it
was me
this is the trench the studio
power in laid in so we're just digging a
little trench and then reusing that
same trench that we dug a few months
back

have these soaking in an pv blaster
right now
get some of the rust off of
my hardware for the door
[music]
got this first coat on
we're gonna put a couple more coats on I think
darken this up just a
little bit more
we'll have to
finish this up next week
