Kitchen Electrical & Bathroom Plumbing

We did a little electrical on the kitchen and installed the rough-in plumbing for the bathroom. Included is a quick tour of our "lovely" kitchen and then you will sympathize with the need to remodel! Check out Bree’s cutification of her computer case :)

Video Transcript

last week we installed the sewage pipe
for the bathroom for the earthbag
add-ons to the main house
[music]
we're putting
some of this marine varnish on here like
we did with Shae's stairs
posts are just sanded and stained on the
one side and this is Garen's idea
was to take the bags and cover the post on this
side so we'd have no beating sun on and
then these will be shown in the
kitchen so we'll have that loggy look
should've probably did this before we
started the bagging but we forgot
put this in years ago
no no
you see that?
did I bury this thing down there
it is
found something
the cat
no no
go on out
no go out - go out
she thinks it's her litter box
did
you see that?
yeah
what were you thinking?
[meow]
that's an outside activity
[meow]
gosh how far
did I bury this thing down there
we already hooked into the grey water?
it is
what did I do?
bury this thing to China?
you find it I
found something
oh yeah
one p-trap
yah
get that all
dug out
[music]
we're at the cleat level so we got to put
cleats on each one of these poles
doing that over there
it's an extremely heavy tamp
where you have something above you
packing really good
than other ones we have
we'll come back and put another layer on and then
we'll get the electricity in
electricity in - electricity in [slurring words]
this should get us through now and the
other property
feet
Pro-JAMA
gonna have Jeff out here probably,
hopefully this weekend if all goes well
and we're gonna dig another hole
what that hole will be used for
that's all I do
we finish up this side of the electrical
at the one foot level off the ground and
we only needed one in each bay
court can easily reach to a table or to
whatever you're doing
here, we're gonna do something a little
different because we have countertops
we're back
we got our base for the shower
neo-angle or something from the matrix
we're doing next, but we have a start
they clip here
research on the internet to see if we could
find some showers and they were so
expensive it was getting really kind of
ridiculous and we wanted a corner one
we found a couple ideas on the internet
that we really liked with corrugated
metal
develops into
upside down and backwards
they print stuff like this
thing but there's 18 steps on how to put
this puppy in
computer case that we had laying around
I didn't really like that so what we did
is, pulled the face off, I drilled some
holes in and I just popped it in upside
down
set up
it a little bit
out with ideas
finished up a gaming party
out my new computer here
turned out
what it did
right about here in this area
here and then we put up wonderboard
on that once we finally get the pan in
now that I have the pan for the shower, I
can determine exactly where all my
plumbing fixtures need to go
it tends to be the typical place that a
shower controller for your hot
and your cold
in as far as connections made, caps put
on for the rough in and the p-trap
location
the hot and cold water and so
we only have to be out of
water for a short period of time
we got our base for the shower
what did
you say it was Gary?
we've got something super special for
you
we don't generally let anyone in on this
it might look pretty just from a glance
we suggest
but they're really kind of coming apart
which is lovely so everything just kind
of needs to go here
wall that you see from the other side
this wall, it's
actually kind of rickety
the day we purchased this place
wall to take down in the first place and
out here you can see where this
kitchen is gonna be
where the kitchen is gonna be so you can
kind of imagine it
gonna be kind of flared out instead of
this L thing and obviously different
stuff but if we go along and if you go
along the big ugly wall
our past videos, we have the rocket stove
stove that we did and then this is the
dining room area so when we take down the wall
then this will also move out too so it'd
be bigger area, more spacious and
a new kitchen
kitchen area and also the bathroom which
is on the other end the house
we hope to see you there
see what this idea
I'm filtering the mulk
go from there
yeah
so are you reading the instructions Gary?
yeah
upside down and backwards
upside down
and backwards like that
I don't know why
they print stuff like this
it only comes
with - you know - a few clips and a plastic
thing but there's 18 steps on how to put
this puppy in
[music]
this was an old
computer case that we had laying around
the usb's were down at the bottom
I didn't really like that so what we did
is, pulled the face off, I drilled some
holes in and I just popped it in upside
down
Garen help me get this all
set up
it'll snap in like this
so that's
how that will go
just kind of cutified
it a little bit
making it kind of fun
Bryson and Garen have been helping me
out with ideas
getting that all going
[music]
finished up a gaming party
we're getting
ready to tear down here and I got to try
out my new computer here
my new case
I'm happy with the way it
turned out
and it sure looks so much better than
what it did
originally
[music]
outside wall
for my piece
fir stripping
this goes
right about here in this area
I think I'll have it
two or three more across
here and then we put up wonderboard
on that once we finally get the pan in
now that I have the pan for the shower, I
can determine exactly where all my
plumbing fixtures need to go
for
instance, the drain, the p-trap and so on
it tends to be the typical place that a
shower controller for your hot
and your cold
are at
to make all this
work, I need to have all of the plumbing
in as far as connections made, caps put
on for the rough in and the p-trap
its
location
have all that done before I cut
it into the two pipes that are live
the hot and cold water and so
we only have to be out of
water for a short period of time
the connectors for the toilets, for cold
water and the sink also need to be put
in at the same time so that we can seal
up the floor
[music]
we've got something super special for
you
but only you can see
we don't generally let anyone in on this
but this
is our kitchen
now
it might look pretty just from a glance
which is pretty much all you need to do
we suggest
really it's just like putting
lipstick on a pig
we've painted these up
but they're really kind of coming apart
the sink is actually sinking in here
which is lovely so everything just kind
of needs to go here
this is the big, ugly
wall that you see from the other side
fun fact for you
this wall, it's
actually kind of rickety
it was since
the day we purchased this place
it
does the wave
so it's not such a bad
wall to take down in the first place and
out here you can see where this
kitchen is gonna be
you can see the
round circle, little half moon and that's
where the kitchen is gonna be so you can
kind of imagine it
all this stuff's
gonna be kind of flared out instead of
this L thing and obviously different
stuff but if we go along and if you go
along the big ugly wall
you might notice from
our past videos, we have the rocket stove
our first rocket
stove that we did and then this is the
dining room area so when we take down the wall
then this will also move out too so it'd
be bigger area, more spacious and
a new kitchen
we're all pretty excited about that
so stay tuned for next week
as we continue the progress on both the
kitchen area and also the bathroom which
is on the other end the house
we hope to see you there
have a great week
bye
[music]
I'm filtering the mulk
the goot mulk
somebody was like, I'm allergic to milk
what type of milk do you drink
instead
of normal milk
she drank almond milk and
you drink cow milk
no, I drink goat milk
she's like, goat milk!
do goats have
milk?
oh course they have milk
we're weird
we put it in the freezer
it's a trick
cool it down as fast as I
can
helps with the taste bet you didn't
know that
there'll be some farmer like, I know
pretty soon this kitchen is going to be gone Shae
exciting
we are ready to get rid of it
mom will
claim first sledgehammer blow
we should have-
a party-
