Transcript of Video

Bree: In the previous episode, we finished the downstairs floor in the underground, earth bag, Mus-Art Studio.

Before we can install the floor upstairs, we need to clear out our tools.

Get it all cleaned up

I'm excited for it to be over

Bree: Over?

You look a little busy so I will come back later

Bree: Bryson is doing the new thing that is sweeping Youtube

Zzzzzhhhhhh

Bree: How do you feel about this being almost done?

We won't be exciting until it's done.

Bree: Ready to move onto the next project?

We'll see what Shae has planned but I have a feeling it will be pretty major.

Shae: So I get to mess up if we mess up

Shae: I do kinda like the red tint

Shelly: I think I do too

Shae: I like that a lot

Much approval Mom

Do you want me to sweep it for you and then you come back through and paint it

Shelly: Yeah

Shae: I would like to make a point that Mom has started to paint at the top of the stairs

which is clearly a wise decision

when there is no other exit

I'm only going to half down and half back up

Shae: You got this figured out.

Shelly: Obviously, I don't.

Garen: Get some new blades on our tools

Garen: Sweet

Gary has this idea to put foam floor on

the upstairs floor

Gary: Let's see what it looks like

Garen: Ooooohhhhh

I didn't want a big, grey floor up there

I like the foam idea

to our surprise we found out they make foam in patterns

Gary: Three quarter inch planks

Gary: Trying to get the grain to all go the same way, you know

Is it complicated?

No, no, it's not complicated

The only place we are going to use the straight edge is in front of the door

Everything else is cut

You might as well get the front of it the way we want it

okay

I'll just go ahead and get this cut to fit then

Alright, let's bring it over and get started

Once we get this first layer down, we can all

get going on it

Ebay we found our best price

They had a marble pattern

We preferred that one but, for whatever reason, it was a higher price

We went with the lightest flooring we could find

Garen: Do we want to glue this down at all. Like around the edges?

Gary: I don't think so.

We can always do it if we need to

Garen: it's not like we can't come back and do it. Let's see if it's a problem first.

Gary: Shelly, you should come up

Garen: Yeah, come up and look. You're going to like it.

Oh, I love it

Wow, they are big. I didn't realize they were so big.

Bree: They are fun to have under your feet though

This is going to be fun. And quick!

Bree: Do you feel this coming through here Mom?

It's so cool

Gary: Geothermal

Bree: It feels like an air conditioner

Shelly: That is going to be so nice

Garen: There is a hard, plastic coating to the top of this.

It's not like foam

This floor is going to clean up real nice

Gary: Make sure all my seams, seam up

Bree: They seem too. [giggles]

I like the foam floor because it's nice to stand on

and I figured we would be doing a lot of standing, working on projects

How do we want it to go? Do we want to go straight

I think seam to seam

Can hardly tell, the grains all line up

Garen: If I can keep the seam the same

Gary: Okay

Shelly: When it was laid, I thought it would look really corny.

At least it would be patterned and easy to clean

It's got the foam and it's not grey

Garen: Can we get a drill too and we'll
open up our thing and see where we need to cut
Bree: Yeah
Garen: Probably going to build a square trim. Right Dad?
Gary: Inside of here
Bree: Yeh!
Is it lighter down there too?
Bryson: Yeah
Bree: Let's go take a look
Garen: You can just...
Bryson: ...start laying them down
Bryson: I'll clear the ends off and set them there
I feel like a kid again building a fort
If you ever made a laser tag thing
Like for a floor
Out of all the jobs we have done so far, this is my favorite
Maybe it's because ...I don't know
Garen: Oh no!
Shelly: What?
I just cut this one in wrong
the grains of the wood are going the wrong way
Shelly: That's okay
Garen: Well it's gonna be because...
Shelly: We're not going to notice
That is a really OCD, cray cray Dude
I'm having a heart attack
It's singing off ke
That's basically what this is
Garen: Do you know what the cool thing about someone singing off key is?
Bree: What?
You realize how good the people singing on-key are
Yeah, it also makes you lament that one person is in the choir
This is amazing
I love this
Shelly: To my surprise, it actually looks...
Gary: It looks really good.
It has a vinyl top so you can clean it off when you need to
so that's the nice thing
You can walk on it
Clean it
Not very expensive
If one gets ruined, you just replace it with another
Shelly: I don't know how long it will last
How long it will hold up
But I guess we'll see
Give it a try. That's what we're about
Shae: Dude, this is so cool
Garen: Not too much left
Gary: We got to trim around those and...
Garen: How do you like the new floor, huh?
Notice these and those
I'm cutting some metal here getting ready to create
the brackets
that are going to hold the Murphy bed up
Just getting fabricated now. We'll get them cleaned up.
and then the bracket will go from here over
and then we'll tie them together and put them on
Bryson: Oh, don't fall down the hole
unwrapping it
Shelly: Hey, it fits
This is comfy
We can see the round sculpture of the roof
Done
So like everything else in this project
We ran out of our flooring material
I went right to where I bought it the first time
They were out
There is no brand name, there was no brand name
We just kinda guessed and of course,
we guessed wrong [laughter]
Bree: It is so much lighter
The burlap is iffy but this is not
Shelly: Are you saying no gradient.
Bree: I don't know if gradient will work this time
Shelly: we are going to go for it anyway
Bree: Oh! I have a thought
We are going to go ahead here and see if we can't match this color up
Shelly: Oh my gosh!
Bree: Oh yeah, baby
Shelly: Garen is going to put that in. He will be installing.
Not only was it a different color completely but
the puzzle pieces were different patterns as well
Garen: That is very unfortunate
Shelly: Oh no
So you couldn't just lock them together
So we ended up doing a straight seam
Shelly: We'll butt them up like that. That will work
that will work easier than anything
Genius Mom
Shelly: Thank you. Have I told you, you are my favorite
Entirely matching
very aesthetically pleasing
absolutely nothing wrong with it
Shelly: Over here huh? with Red Oak
Bree: I mean it still sticks out because it is different
but I think it is way closer to a match
Shelly: We'll do it then
Notice how the crossbar is in wood?
Dad likes it a lot better than metal
Shae: Oh no
Dad is going to be really mad at himself
Shae: Push
Shae: Ut oh
Ut, ut oh
Daddy did a boo boo
Shelly: Oh no
Shae: Can you fix it Bry?
We won't even tell him, we will just let him watch the video

Stayed tuned for next time when we move in and do our final walk-thru.
This coming Wednesday, we will be back on with the Podcast.
We’ll be discussing our final thoughts on this building project, talking about the next project,
and taking any questions or comments from you!
Hope to see you there.
Thanks for watching and have a great week
All: Thank You
I removed the glass panel that was put in the floor
and I'm demonstrating the fun way down
[giggles]
Somebody suggested a fire pole there
Shae: Our family moved from the city to the country

what's cool about the foam is that it's the same stuff we use to create
the helmets and the armor that we use in our cosplays
so if you run out of material you start grabbing it off the floor
or I can roll around the floor with glue on me
Shae: Okay, rolling
Oh, get down
[raspberry]
But to our surprise [raspberry]
Bree: You can't be tired
Garen: Come on. Have them do your job Bry Bry
