Reciprocal Roof Construction Start
Some really awesome things happened this week! We started on the stucco and the reciprocal roof! Things are looking great and I can't wait for you to see them. There's a new member of the family to meet near the end as well. Please enjoy!

in the previous episode we installed the
decking for the flat patio roof on
Shae's earthbag bedroom

last week while we were working on the
patio something caught Shae's eye
my patio is right next to this beautiful
tree that used to have a treehouse in it
and we're thinking that it should have a
treehouse in it again
if you want that
to happen vote in the comments below and
then from there I could probably try and
convince dad

what are you guys doing?
leveling a little
getting ready to put in some scaffolding
I thought it might be my post

we have a lot of rocks

we're starting to prep now to get ready for the reciprocal
roof
getting our scaffolding up and
beginning the process
getting our lumber
set and start doing our calculations and
our figures

we're starting on the roof
now and we're doing a reciprocal roof
real similar to what we did with the Mus-Art Studio
Oh you're gonna make that kind of roof
it worked out so
good last time I thought it'd be good to
do another one
so what's nice though to
about this one is that it's a smaller
version of it so I don't have this great
big expanse I'm all worried about
I have a real small expanse
about twelve
foot diameter so it's a little bit
easier to work with

they were using that saw the entire time
but now we pick up the camera and now
they're using the saw
this is a painful
endeavor
we got the mixture completely
wrong
it got bigger and bigger
as we
tried to fix it with more of whatever we
thought would fix it
now we have a giant
batch of crappy mud
it's kind of annoying
we're stuck with it now and we might be
able to just do the whole building
yeah
it's interesting the kids
it's so fun
when they're babies all the way up
through all the years
it's just
enjoyable watching each stage as they
grow and when they're in their teenage
years they have a special superpower and
I really should utilize and capitalize
on this
she asked me something and I was
like I don't know and she's like what do
you mean you don't know
you have to know
you know everything
you're a teenager
this is the only time in life you know
everything

your not the typical teenager?

I'm making clips that
are gonna go around the outside of my
octagon so that I can have more
of a compression ring
we're using a an octagon
a two-foot diameter octagon
eight sides and
we're cutting those at 22 and a half
degrees
I think it's about 10 inches from
the short to short point
here's an example
compression right at the top and these
little pieces here will put everything
all together
this time too is something
different I'm doing with it
I'm using
brackets to be able to bracket the whole
thing together so it's a nice solid
compression ring
pretty smart
that is very cool Dad

determine a pitch for our roof

sets on that roof somewhere
starting over there and coming this direction

smaller material
we're using two by six
so we don't need to span that much so
it's perfect on the span
6 foot sections to the walls as opposed to the 15's
that we were doing before
we need one more

the reason we bought this was the first one fell
out of the air just randomly
the second
drone we built we got everything ready
we were gonna get a bunch of cameras
for it and stuff but this drone had
dropped down so much in price
by the time we buy everything for the second
drone, it would be just as much as this
one
