Reciprocal Roof Construction Rafters & Windows
Dad and Garen continued installing the reciprocal roof rafters for the second half of my room! Also meet the new member of the family and get feedback on the treehouse escapade. Please enjoy tonight's video and there will be another update next week.

in the last episode we began installing
some rafters for the reciprocal roof on
Shae's earthbag bedroom

last week Shae was debating whether or not she should
spend money on a pug puppy

we have our new addition to the family

it's all shorter spans
now we're gonna move to a two by eight for the longer
spans and we actually don't have any two
by eights so we're gonna stop to the day
go into town and get some two by eights

where that end sets because we're going
off the bag level which could be wrong

in between there's where the middle of the
rafter goes

perfect
my span was a bit more than what a 2x6
could handle so we went for two by eight
for three of the rafters
[music]
yours was a
good roof
Bryson's was spectacular
totally design-wise
that was a design
miracle for me
because I had no idea
I'd never worked with compression before
on reciprocal roofs
and then this one's
a reciprocal and has that perfect thirds
on a curve
yeah
[music]
because of your input, Dad has
agreed to build a tree house so thank
you for your comments
if you find any
really cool links for this treehouse
send them over and we'll try and check
them all out and get some ideas
we're going to build a treehouse!

we're getting the windows install here
this one looks like it already has the
trim around it
when we built the window
frames
we build them about a half inch
too big all the way around
that way
there's a quarter inch of space around
the entire window
it's a little easier to get in
hoping that hasn't changed too
much
the window will also get caulked all
the way around
so that no water gets in

assuming I didn't put the window in backwards
so we've been using this
real cheap 3x1 material
so I'm going to cut some of these pieces up and
trim out the window
we just installed
that looks nice
oh I love it with that
trim
okay and then that's gonna make
it so much easier for the stucco
it's cute isn't it?
yeah

about the dog
you're gonna probably smudge that up

we have all the main rafters in that
hold up that compression ring and now
we're going to set rafters in between
each of those rafters
so a lot of rafter
but it's gonna be nice and strong and
it's gonna have a very interesting roof
shape
I'm very excited about
is that gonna hold you
