Transcript of Video

Bree: Last episode, we finished off the roof framing with facia on the underground earth bag MusArt Studio.
Bree: Dad wants to reinforce the frame with a cable system simular to a Yurt. He heads to the metal junk pile to look for needed parts.
Gary: We will look for a pipe for this. Seems a little obvious…but here it is! Perfect!
Garen: if we run the wire through there, it won’t risk breaking eventually.
Gary: Now, to make it pretty, do you think we could cut the other side off?
Garen: Well, i don’t think it needs to look pretty. we’re not seeing it, right?
Gary: Ya. this shows.
Garen: I say we do the four bend and clean them. I didn’t realize we were…
Gary: You can still do the four bend.
Gary: “De-burring”
Shelly: Are you cold?
Gary: Ya. I am cold. It’s colder out here. But I’m still in shorts.
Garen: It’s freezing out here. It’s not suppose to be cold.
Shelly: Garen is not in shorts, but you were always the bright one.
Garen: Bright one what?
Gary: The smart one.
Garen: Oh….(Laughing)…I looking over my work?
Gary: i’m not looking over your work.
Garen: Ya right.
Gary: Do we have enough here?
Garen: Perfectionist! You are not going to see it from 20 feet in the air.
Gary: It looks good. Just bring a pair of pliers and your cable thing you wanted to do.
Bryson: So what is your plan with this?
Gary: Is to put these in here. Maybe against the wall so they all look the same.
Garen: Ya.
Gary: Then, just drilling a hole right there. slamming this through running our cable. We only have 8 to do.It shouldn’t take that long. Does that sound…?
Garen: Ya. That sound good.
Gary: there we go. That’s one.
Gary: The cable we are installing right now is something similar to a compression ring which holds all the bottoms of the rafters in. It is kind of an extra measure of…you know. I have not built one of these before and we are going with something a little extra on the bottom. it is very much like a Yurt.
Gary: The cable is going to be below the ceiling so we do this opportunity to tighten it use it as a … Hang banners or something from. It will be fun.
Bryson: Whoa…
Garen: That’s all I need.
Bryson: It’s nice.
Gary: It’s our insurance right there baby.
Gary: We went down to get our plywood for the roofing section. But then I usually take…I usually like to buy the plywood. But the wood has become so much more expensive that I went with the OSB…which I don’t normally use. The first thing Garen and I need to do is to take the our rectangles and make triangles and not waist too much material. There should be one there. It should be 8 feet.
Garen: It’s not. It is a little too long there.
Bryson: It’s happening. Yea. One bay complete.
Gary: It’s looking good. It’s coming together.
Bryson: Going to call it quits for the day. I’m thinking so. The last mellon. That’s it. We only have four left Garen? After we got done with the sheeting, we went and put on the rain drip. The rain drip is designed to divert rain away from the roof.
Garen: That’s what I call…
Shelly: That’s all you have left?
Gary: You guys did a great job.
Bryson: You won’t believe. We’re out of nails.
Gary: Good job guys.
Shelly: we got that little uh…. so Gary was doing some research because he was trying to figure out what exactly we were going to put in there. Looking at yurt skylights but they are very expensive so… Just for the heck of it I’m going to go to Craig's List and see what i could find there. And to my shock, I found an octagon skylight and it exactly fits up there. And huh… I’m very excited I got it for a hundred bucks. it’s just… I don’t know what to say… So Gary is going to be installing it today.
Shelly: It’s perfect. You’re a genius.
Gary: Thank you.
Shae: We knew you had it in your Dad. We always believed in you. This is the top plate that the curb will set on.
Shelly: You will notice that…1, 2,  3, 4, 5, 6, 7… He forgot one. it only has seven. He left…to take a little break. He will be back.
Bryson: Dad made a seven sided polygon.”I’m gone like the wind”.
Garen: you didn’t measure the right distance. Well, let’s just pull this one and and cut another one that is an half inch longer.
Gary: We have had 3 fails this morning.
Shelly: 4th time is a charm huh?
Garen: Four fail.
Shelly: All right then. it is easier to clean now and not up there in that tall center.
Bryson: It looks really clean Mom.
Gary: We dry fitted it up there and looks really good.
Bryson: Through the hole.
Bryson: Well. I missed it.
Bree: Our next update will be on the roof. And we will doing it with our favorite roofing material. So, be sure to stay tuned for that. Youtube made some new updates so the previous & next screen will be shown at the end of this video. The “previous” video link will be clickable but the “next" won’t work until the next update. Which, by the way, we will be finishing off the roof with our favorite roofing material so be sure to catch us next time. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and we’ll see you next Friday.
All: Thank You
Shae: we childhood is decaying with this floor.
Shelly: Sorry hun.
Shae: This is not what floors should do. OMG/ Look how frail that is. I could die.
Shelly: Then get down and be safe.
Shae: This is just sad.
Shelly: I don’t know how you kids went all these years without falling.
Shae: We did fall. We just never told you.
Shelly: Well ok.
Shae: Our family moved from the city to the country. Thank you for taking part I our adventure. We have new video’s every friday evening. if you would like to help us out, like this video, share it, subscribe or support us on Patreon. See the links in the description.
Bryson: Fire in the hole.
Shae: Mom is our show girl.
Shelly: do you want to do it in your cute little outfit?
Shae: O’Ya. You gotta show me in this outfit.
Shelly: O’Ya. You gotta show the skylight though because that is how…
Shae: You can’t tell I just woke up and walked out here in whatever I could find.
Bryson: Ahhhhhhh… So darn close!
(Shelly laughing)
Bryson: What happened to it. Oh… Mom, I think the hole is over there.
Bryson: Yea!!!!!
Shelly: You got it.
