Video Transcript

in the last episode the heart grew
several layers on Shae's earthbag
bedroom
[Music]
now it's time to run the
electrical in the upper level
[Music]
but as we
begin working we remember that the
Eclipse is happening soon
Bryson gets to
work so we can see it
[Music]
the next day dad picks up building
materials on his way home from work
picked up one of the windows for Shae's room
found
this double hung for 10 bucks, brand-new
two by tens are for the roof and the two by
twelves are for the window wraps
[Music]
YAHHH!
I'm good
more work than I anticipated
[Music]
look at how adorable he's being
so we're
making some cleats and we're just using
some leftover particle board and stuff
around the property
look at it
[laughter]
does that look right to you?
it's good though
I just take this out and flip it
awesome Shae
thank you
I do good work
what can I say I'm special
don't look at
me
I did good mom
I done good
I'm
waiting for them to decide
to see how
many cleats they are going need
line out
some good
some good board dough
it's not straight but you get the picture
You can look now
Do they go on anywhere Mom?
every post needs them this time around
I'm on the wrong side
I'm using my
left side
I have to walk over here now
okay clearly I was not made for this job
Ahhh!
okay we're doing this different
we're doing this differently now
all ready
let's try this again
okay
all right what do you think of that
Snapple?
the cleats go in about every
three layers and they go against each
post
[music]
I mean you could
that's just an
extra one that will have to be done
pretty soon
this is the one?
yeah
we have smaller windows
this time
the actual wall sticks out of
the ground is a little shorter than our
usual buildings
this is dog level
Diesel
Hi!
except
they'll be a window
oh my gosh you're
gonna have all kinds of nosed windows
[laughter]
we're going with a little bit
smaller of a window
[music]
we're going with the
2 by 12 instead of a 2 by 10
to try and
get a little bit wider of a window box
that way it covers more of the bag
[music]
unboxing the nails
look at that box
the presentation is
like a D
they're rusty nails too on top
of being...
oh my gosh
we got ripped off
little discount?
probably not
that's it I'm gonna go
find whoever sold these to my papa
and I'm going to WAAAA
nailed it
Garen, savage in his natural
environment
and hisnatural habitat
[music]
it's just 4 two by twelves and then
just squaring it up
nailing it together
nothing too complex
[music]
I think I'm going to use 2 of these
cut them in half
okay
[music]
because the windows
are smaller
I don't think we're gonna
brace them off
we may end up bracing
them later depending on how it goes
but I think for now we're just gonna set
them on there and level them
[music]
it's a box
and as you can see it has some very nice
tape on it
unboxing video but no one
sent it to us because we bought it
here Shae, I'll help you out
Why are we opening both ends?
because... fine
we'll open one end
you're so stereotypical
paper
there's so many boxes
okay, we got a shock
that's shocking
it's a strut
we're gonna strut our stuff
this is the most
unexcited thing I've ever opened up
I gotta say this is not Christmas morning
they were good pun opportunities but that's about all the excitement
us gals are really wanting to learn a
little bit more about our cars
we want to be
more knowledgeable about it
so the next
time that they're gonna go out
we wanted to be with
and watch them and help
it's time to fix the shocks in the
Suzuki and it's our perfect opportunity
I got there before Shae and Bryson so
Garen was working right next to the car
so I decided to just get in there and
get started
Garen was able to point me in the right
direction
this piece right here
so if you pop the hood open
okay
to get to the top bolt
yep so this one comes
out
the center one here
seriously
after
that one comes out
this thing's gonna drop then it's these two bolts here and
the whole thing drops down but you got
to be careful
if you grab them with a
pair of pliers
it'll pull straight out
that way
okay
and then this hose will
come out of this
so I'd do that first
you know when you pop up on the hood it
looks super complicated but as things
break
you
learn a little bit about each part and
it starts to be less scary,
not scary but less daunting
Good Bree
when you take this off
the whole bottom part is going to fall down
so what does
that mean? Do we need to be there to catch it?
what we'll do
put the car up on this
okay
if you take this this part off
this will fall down
so this goes here
and this is how you're gonna control the
up-and-down of this
this takes the top
of the shock off so now the shock will
just fall right through
you know having
the bullets and undoing everything
the only thing I really wish is that I
was a little bit stronger because some
of those bolts and stuff
tightening them and untightening them
even though there's
ways to do it
it was a little tough on
some of this stuff
cuz I just wasn't
quite strong enough
It's about time you showed up
nice shoes Dude
she's already got the
shock out
this goes up into there right?
if you don't let her do this you'll have to do it for her the rest of your life
you know you are right
depends on the dude I
marry though
you guys might be off the
hook
you're going to marry some geek who can't work on cars
he'll be good at researching so we'll be able to figure it out
yeah
it was a lot of fun to do and way
easier than I thought it was gonna be
it was fun actually
and like I've
changed tires before and it's basically
just jack up, take tire off and then
put other tire on
the majority of the work part is
stuff that we've already done
they're busy doing that I'm gonna find something
else to do
I'm going to clean
side job
if you use
toothpaste on these things
you can get
them really clean
and then I was looking
at the car light and I was wondering if
I could make them cleaner
some
toothpaste
and scrub the lights
are you making my floors dirty Shae?
don't worry about it
compare
very nice
it's so like a woman
as a kid, growing up,
I thought it was so cool when you worked
on a car you got greasy hands
you can't
just rub it on
it has to be achieved
that's why when you ask me to clean my
hands I'm just like no
I want to wear
this as a badge of honor
won't clean her
hands
and it's bothering me
I already had all
the cleaning stuff out there
we had the opportunity to clean our hands so I was
like here
clean your hands and you
didn't see
you're like - no I'm good
and so I'm just sitting there like with
her hands scrubbing her hand off like
here
I'm helping you
you're welcome
that's very sisterly
thank you
[music]
we could still slip a step underneath this one here
We hadn't thought very much into the steps that are gonna
be leading up to my flat patio roof
if we're gonna put him in the back or if
we're gonna put them in the front
we got some masterminding going on here
one foot here
one foot under the bag and
three foot out
yeah cuz the insides are
gonna be shelves on the inside
we have to figure out some
kind of roof thing
when we get to the roof
we decided that we could actually do some
cantilever steps up in the front
go ahead mom
step up on there
we were about to
put our windows in before we really
thought it through
so I'm glad we remembered now cuz this is like the
perfect level before we put anything
that's permanent in
[music]
so this will be parallel to whatever we
cut this at so I have a line that's kind
of-maybe line here to set all this on
yeah we'll probably want to set that
down anyway
seat it and then grab a level
today we're going to go ahead and
get the post installed
[music]
[music]

week
bye
[music]
I got distracted
look at how fascinating that is
It's the way I'm holding my hand
it's like - like a better
it's like a better
like it's ok dude
look at the weird thing I can do with my hand
what is it?
the shape
oh ok
it's the simple things in
life
our family moved from the city to
the country
